Vertical Tug-of-war

This is like regular Tug-of-war except its vertical. The rope is thrown over a horizontal beam. The aim is to lift the other team off the ground. Each team consists of 5 pullers. The “alpha-anchor” is the puller at the end of the rope, usually the strongest on the team. Olympic rules declare that the horizontal beam be exactly 18 feet high.
